Dress Code

SHIRT TYPES

• NO logos

• Knit polo shirts with 2 or 3 button placket and collar, long or short sleeve

• Knit long sleeved turtlenecks

• Tailored, button-down oxford shirts with collar, long or short sleeve

• Sweaters: pullover, V-neck, cardigan or sleeveless vests (solid color only)

SHIRT/SWEATER COLORS

• Knit shirts in white, light blue, true red or navy (no logos)

• Oxford shirts in white or light blue only

• Sweaters in true red, navy or white only (solid color only)

SKIRTS/JUMPERS (Girls Only)

• Schoolbelles plaid uniform jumper (grades 1-3 only) for St. Mary School code #1131

• Schoolbelles plaid skirts/skorts for St. Mary School code #1131

• All skirts must be of appropriate length (at least 2" below fingertips)

PANT TYPES

• Belted, uniform dress trousers or corduroys

• Belted, uniform walking shorts (no short shorts)

• NO bell bottoms, NO cargo pants/shorts or side pockets or side zippers, NO Capri shorts

PANT/SHORT COLORS

• Navy or khaki

BELTS

• Conservative belts in brown, black, navy or to match pants

• NO sparkly buckles, rivets, or medallion type buckles with logos/pictures

SHOES

• Brown, black, navy school shoe or saddle shoe with rubber soles; no platform shoes

• Students have the option of wearing solid black or solid white gym shoes (laces included) instead of dress shoes. (No trendy or flashy decorations, lights or other distracting designs are permitted).  Students may bring different tennis shoes on gym day or wear solid black or solid white tennis shoes for gym class.  WHEN IN UNIFORM, UNIFORM SHOES ARE REQUIRED. 

SOCKS

• NO visible logos

• Girls – tights, knee socks, or folded ankle length socks in white, red or navy (no short sport socks)

• Boys – crew socks, white or to match pants (no short sport socks)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• If the shirts, shorts or pants are not purchased from Schoolbelles, it should conform to the acceptable style and colors.

• Gr. 1-3 WEAR UNIFORMS ON GYM DAY – GIRLS MAY WEAR SHORTS UNDER SKIRTS/JUMPERS

• Gr. 4-6 change into gym attire on gym days. Those students attending gym class first period may wear gym attire to school and change following class.

• Kindergarten Dress Code – Students in Kindergarten should wear comfortable clothes that do not inhibit students from physical activity. All attire should be modest and appropriate for school activities. Gym shoes are encouraged.

• NO dyed hair; NO tattoos; NO make-up; clear nail polish only; single ear-piercing; NO dangling earrings; clear chap stick; NO glitter; jewelry should be kept to a minimum

• A reminder that long cords or strings from jackets, coats or book bags are very hazardous. Please cut them off if they are too long.

DRESS DOWN DAY ATTIRE

• Occasionally students have the privilege of dressing down. Students may wear jeans or casual pants that are not “too low-riding” or can be concealed by a long top. Midriff skin or undergarments should not be visible when a student stands or sits.

• Tops must be short or long sleeved shirts that conceal midriff skin and undergarments. No thin strapped sleeveless tops are permitted. Girls may not wear low-cut necklines or extremely tight fitting shirts or tops. Sweatshirts are permitted. Shirts that have inappropriate language, pictures or symbols are prohibited.

DRESS-UP DAY ATTIRE

• Students are encouraged to wear dress clothing that is modest in length and style.

• Girls may wear dresses, skirts or dress pants. Skirts and dresses should not be shorter than 3 ½ inches or a credit card length above the knee. Pants must not reveal midriff or undergarments when a student is standing or sitting.

• Boys must wear dress pants with belt. No jeans are permitted on these days. A collared dress shirt is acceptable. Ties are optional. Sweaters may also be worn over a dress shirt. If student does not wish to dress up, then the student must wear their uniform clothing.
