~ Students were also introduced to a number skill ring. Have your child practice identifying and writing numbers 1-25.

~ WAY TO GO KINDERGARTEN!!! The Kindergarten class won the can collection for lower grade levels on GO GREEN Day last week. We brought in more cans than any other class J Thank you for all of your efforts and support!! Students will enjoy a pizza party in the late afternoon sometime this week.

~ GO GREEN DAY this week!!! On Thursday May 3rd we will be weighing in for PAPER. Let’s win another pizza party!! Wear jeans and a green t-shirt J

We are asking that students bring in rakes, brooms, and gloves to help make St. Mary School grounds look more beautiful!

~ Yearbook deadline is Wednesday, April 25th à Don’t forget to place your order!!

~ We will be taking a walk to the Vermilion Boat Ramp on Friday, April 27th to watch the trout release into Lake Erie. Please have permission slips turned in by Wednesday, April 25th.

~ The STUDENT ART SHOW is this weekend in the gathering space. Please stop by to check out your child’s beautiful art work after church on Sunday.

“EXTRA, EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!”

~ The 100th day of School is this week!! (ALREADY!!) We will celebrate it Tuesday February 7th. Please bring in 100 items that can fit into a gallon sized bag.

~The Kindergarten is hosting fundraiser “Pennies for Pooches.” Please bring in 100 pennies (if possible, any donation will do) in honor of the 100th day of school to raise money for the Saint Francis Animal Sanctuary. The Kindergarten class with the help of the fifth graders will be counting and graphing how much money was raised!

~ Go Green Day is Thursday, February 9th. Please bring in CANS!! Your child may wear a green shirt with jeans.

~ Please bring in a shoebox by this Friday, February 10th for our Valentine’s Day Project.

~ NO SCHOOL Monday, February 13th.

~Students will need to complete the “Ohio AMVETS American Flag Drawing Contest”. This is a project to be completed at home and turned into school by Tuesday, February 14th. A note will be sent home later this week.

 The students were working so hard last week and discovering wonderful things about winter. They began the week talking about snowflakes and snowmen. The played in snow (shaving cream), watched large ice blocks melt, and made ice-cream. Here are a few pictures from all of the fun!

~ I would like to say thank you to those moms and dads who helped with the Christmas Party. (Linda Bogle, Natalie Iafolla, and Mike and Laura Roztas.) It was a huge success with the students. We had a very fun-filled party which was a great culminating activity to our Christmas Unit! Now on to our Winter Unit! J

~ Also, thank you to those of you who brought in paper for the Go Green Day last week. The Kindergarten class brought in over 400 pounds of paper and came in second place! This is a record breaking number for any Kindergarten class at St. Mary School. It was also the most paper brought to school overall by all grade levels. The students were given an extra special treat on Friday for their wonderful achievement. Way to go Kindergarten! Let’s see what we can do for the next Go Green Day of cans!

~Please continue to bring in items for the elderly. A letter went home last week as well as with the apple notes about our class’s specific gift items. This holiday season is a great time to remember and give to those in need.

~ The Christmas Program is Tuesday December 13, 2011. This will be a dress-up day at school. Dress to look your Christmas Best! A program is being held in the afternoon and evening. The afternoon show begins promptly at 1:30 p.m. The evening show begins at 6:15 with a preschool performance. The K-6 performance begins at 7:00 p.m. ALL STUDENTS must be in their classrooms by 6:30 p.m.

This is an opportunity for students to buy small items for their parents, siblings, and grandparents. A note went home last week explaining this fun day! ~ Also, this Friday December 9, 2011, grades five and two are hosting a gum drop guess to raise money for a charity of Father Ron’s choice. Each guess is worth 25 cents. Please support this good cause. J

~ This Christmas season we are collecting items for the elderly. Please see the attached letter regarding what the kindergarten class is responsible for providing.

~Next week, Tuesday, December 13, 2011, students will be participating in our yearly Christmas Program. There are two Christmas shows. The first show will be in the afternoon beginning at 1:30p.m. The second show will be in the evening beginning at 6:15p.m. Please dress to look your best and arrive to school at 6:00p.m.

~ Students enjoyed a great two days in school last week! The Harvest Feast celebrated on Tuesday went especially well. Students enjoyed turkey, mashed potatoes, squash, homemade bread and butter, popcorn, pumpkin seeds, and a little chocolate to sweeten the pot! They enjoyed an afternoon of dancing, games, and a holiday craft. Thank you to Mrs. Wojciechowski, Mrs. Conway, Mrs. Shepherd, and Mrs. Bogle for the extra help!

~ The entire student body enjoyed the movie “Nomeo and Juliet” last Friday afternoon. They enjoyed an afternoon of friends and popcorn. Students were surprised by a FLASH MOB of administration, teachers, and parents. What fun!

~ A letter went home Friday explaining our Thanksgiving Unit. An envelope will be sent home with students Monday for money donation for food. It was not attached to letter as specified.

 

Thursday, November 3, 2011 is a Green Day!!! Please bring in paper :) The class with the most paper brought in earns a PIZZA PARTY!! Miss Peatee's favorite food is pizza...

If you bring in paper you may dress down in jeans and a green shirt :)

~ Our fieldtrip to the Pumpkin Patch was a huge success! Even though we ended up talking more about apples then pumpkins, students ended up finishing the week dissecting and gutting pumpkins from the patch! Thank you to those parents for attending our fieldtrip and delivering our pumpkins to us back at school! Mrs. Iafolla was also able to get some great pictures of students. I forwarded an email to parents of the pictures taken. J

~The FALL FESTIVAL was a huge hit with the Kindergarten as well as the entire school! Students enjoyed making bird feeders, notes for the sick, face painting, treat making, and a dance off! Congratulations to Miranda Bogle and the rest of group 1 in their dancing success! Thank you to all the moms and dads that volunteered to make this afternoon such a hit!

FIELD TRIP

Our class Field Trip to Molly’s Vineyard is this Friday, October 7, 2011. Please have your child dress for the weather. (Please have them wear old clothing that can get dirty!! BUT please be mindful it is also a day we go to church.) They will be picking grapes from the vine, enjoying grape juice, and playing a few games as a unit opener to discussing the seasons and the changes we see.

 

MARKET DAY

Market Day order pick-up is next week October 12th, 2011 between 5:15-6:00 p.m. Remember that Kindergarten gets the proceeds from this month’s orders. Kindergarten parent helpers please arrive around 4:15 p.m. to help unpack and sort J Thanks for all the help and support!

~Last week our trip to Molly’s Vineyard was a huge success! What a great unit opener to class discussions about the weather and beginning Harvest season. Students enjoyed picking grapes from the vine, looking for grape leaves, having a taste of Molly’s Vineyard grape juice, and watching their teacher smash grapes BAREFOOT! Thank you to all the parents who showed up at the vineyard to help out and take pictures. J (Miss Peatee cannot wait to see them!)
